The Higher Education Commission Pakistan (HEC) has officially launched a revised computing curriculum for universities aimed at equipping students with future-ready digital skills and improving graduate employability.

Curriculum Developed Through Extensive Consultations
According to HEC officials, the revised curriculum was developed following consultations with:
- Academia and universities
- Industry representatives
- Accreditation bodies
- Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication
- Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB)
- Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA)
- National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC)
- Development partners
Officials said the updated framework aligns with HEC’s:

and represents a major shift toward competency-based and industry-aligned computing education.
14 Specialization Pathways Introduced
The revised Computer Science curriculum incorporates emerging technologies and future skills through:

- Internet of Things (IoT)
- Quantum Computing
- Other emerging computing disciplines
HEC said the specialized tracks are designed to prepare graduates for rapidly evolving technology sectors and future workforce demands.
Greater Focus on Industry Skills and Employability
A key feature of the revised curriculum is the integration of:
