Educational Institutions Launch Anti-Vaping Awareness Campaign

An anti-vaping awareness campaign has been launched in educational institutions to educate students about the health risks of vapes, nicotine pouches, cigarettes and other nicotine products.

The Drug Advisory Training Hub organised a one-day session for university students, focusing on addiction, academic stress and healthier ways to manage pressure.

Youth Vaping Demand Reportedly Rising

Anti-drug campaign consultant Syed Zulfiqar Hussain said demand for vaping among young people had increased by around 20%.

He warned that students may begin using nicotine products occasionally while dealing with examinations or academic pressure, but repeated use can gradually lead to dependence.

Nicotine is highly addictive, and health authorities advise that young people should not use e-cigarettes or other tobacco products.

Universities Urged to Open Counselling Centres

Hussain called on universities to establish dedicated counselling centres where students can seek professional support for stress, anxiety and substance-related problems.

Such facilities could help students recognise harmful habits early and access support before occasional use develops into addiction.

During the session, students were also briefed on the health effects of vaping, ways to avoid nicotine products and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
